PICTORIAL: Kabaka amplifies Masaka’s quest for a city status
For days, the Kabaka, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has been touring parts of Masaka district in the traditional Buddu county of Buganda Kingdom.
His tour started at Sand Beach Nabugabo where he officiated at this year’s royal boat regatta which was won by Buddu County.
During a Church service at Kako, the seat of the Anglican diocese of West Buganda, the Kabaka wondered why Masaka is not on the list of nine municipalities that are going to be elevated to city status yet the town has all the requirements for the elevation.
On Monday, the Kabaka visited the ancenstry of some of the 54 Buganda clans.
As he wound up his working trip on Tuesday, the Kabaka visited the Fistula ward at Kitovu Hospital which the Kingdom has supported for years through the annual Kabaka Birthday run. He interacted with patients, their caregivers and health workers.
From Kitovu, he toured the kingdom’s Muteesa 1 Royal University on Kirumba hill in Masaka Municipality.
He crowned his tour with a drive through Masaka town’s central business district.
