Besigye, Bobi Wine hold talks
FDC strongman Dr Kizza Besigye on Friday visited Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine at his home at Magere in Kansangati Town Council, Wakiso district.
Besigye who was accompanied by Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and Mukono Municpality MP Betty Nambooze Bakireke carried gifts that included foodstuffs and chicken for the musician-turned-politician.
The politicians appeared to be in high spirits as Kyagulanyi ushered them into his palatial home. They briefly posed for photographs before they retreated into the house for a meeting whose details remain scanty.
According to some aides of the politicians, Besigye and group visited Kyagulanyi to show solidarity with after spending days on remand at Luzira prison.
Bobi Wine was jailed on April 29 on charges of leading last year’s protests against the social media tax, and was bailed on May 2 following days of riots in Kampala, Mityana and Jinja.
The Besigye – Bobi Wine talks have been described as cordial, and are said to have centred around how best the two camps can work together to end Museveni’s rule “as urgently as possible.”
This is the first time that Kyagulanyi and Besigye are holding formal talks following months of altercations between their supports especially after Kyagulanyi made public his presidential ambition.
