UPDF withdraws uniforms from Kato Lubwama

Lubaga South MP Kato Lubwama has encountered a setback in regard to his latest theatre production “Vitta, the military love” after the Chief of Defence Forces Gen David Muhoozi directed for the withdrawal of army uniforms the dramatists have been using in the play.

Kato Lubwama has been performing the play with his Diamonds Ensemble, Golden band and celebrated radioman Abbey Mukiibi.

Given its theme name, military uniforms have been part of the costumes which once caused debate on the social media with many Ugandans wondering how the artistes got access to military fatigues.

It is not clear whether the sharp criticism of the army’s leadership’s giving allowing the artistes to use the army uniforms informed Muhoozi’s decision since a March 30 communication to various military units does not explicitly.

All that it indicates is that there was a report written for the CDF based on what security agents saw in play at Bat Valley theatre on May 23.

“The CDF directed that you immediately withdraw our uniforms with immediate effect,” reads a message sent out by Muhoozi’s assistant, Charles Asingura.
