Museveni pays homage to the Kabaka

At 11:33am, President Yoweri Museveni’s motorcade drove into Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II at Banda hill outside Kampala.

Museveni who has previously hosted the Kabaka at State House Entebbe had not been to the royal’s residence much as he has visited the seat of Buganda Kingdom at Bulange for a radio talk show on CBS FM.

Museveni also attended Mutebi’s 20th coronation anniversary at the Mengo palace in August 2013.

Upon arrival at Banda, Museveni was led to a tent were they are holding the talks that are not open to journalists.

On his team, the Kabaka has his young brother Prince David Kintu Wasajja, first deputy Katikkiro, Emmanuel Ssendawula and Joyce Mpanga.

Museveni was joined by the Attorney General William Byaruhanga which gave an impression that the talks are going to centre on the return of the kingdom’s properties.

But Museveni could bring up his discomfort Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga’s criticism of the state’s brutal arrest of Kyadondo East Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

In September last year, Museveni told journalists that he would me the Kabaka over the Katikkiro’s remarks that were made before the Buganda Lukiiko.

Mayiga is not in attendance.
