Mbarara holds KCCA FC as Express FC humbles Tooro United


Two first half goals from Eric Kambale and Ibrahim Kayiwa gave Express FC maximum points in today’s StarTimes Uganda Premier League fixture against Tooro United FC at Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku.

Home fans were thrown into frenzy when Kambale scored the opener in the fourth minute of the game.

Kambale headed in a cross from teammate Michael Birungi before Tooro United increased pressure that nearly earned them an equalizer in the 11th minute but Mathias Muwanga in Express FC’s goal denied the visitors.

In the 31st minute, Ibrahim Kayiwa doubled Express’ lead after a good combination with Tony Odur.

The win moved Express FC to the 6th position on the league table with eight points from five matches.

At Lugogo, second placed KCCA FC were entertained to a goalless draw by Mbarara City FC in the day’s second league fixture that earned KCCA’s Hassan Jurua a red card in the dying minutes of the game after a second bookable offense.
