Cranes prepare for Afcon qualifiers as FUFA announces league dates

African football governing body CAF has appointed Egyptian referee Amin Mohamed Omar and Samir Gamel Saad and Mahmoud Ahmed Abo as the match officials of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier game between Uganda and Lesotho.

The Group L match will be played on October 13 at the Mandela National Stadium Namboole.

Three days later, Uganda Cranes will play against the same side – Lesotho in Maseru under the watch of Comoros referees, Ali Mohamed Adelaid, Soulaimane Amaldine and Said Omar Chebli.
Uganda is leading Group L with four points after two games followed by Lesotho on two points, with Tanzania and Cape Verde third and fourth respectively.


Clubs have less than a week to prepare for the kick-off of the Uganda Premier League 2018/2019 season.

According to the fixtures that were released on Monday, the league kicks-off on Friday with last season’s champions SC Vipers hosting debutants Ndejje University FC at St Mary’s stadium Kitende.

Eight games will be played on the opening day.

In other developments, Soana fc has changed name to Tooro FC and will be hosting its home matches from Buhinga grounds in Fort Portal.

Kirinya Jinja ss has also changed its home ground from Bugembe to Jinja SS grounds.

Clubs such as BUL, Mbarara City and Nyamityobora that do not have venues where to host their home matches have been given up to Tuesday, September 25 to name their home grounds.
