Bobi Wine freed, re-arrested over fresh charges
Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has been re-arrested by the police moments after the General Court Martial terminated charges against him.
Lt Gen Andrew Guti who chairs the General Court Martial ruled that it would be unfair on the side the MP to be tried in the military court yet he has to face related charges before a civilian court.
“This court therefore terminates charges against Hon Kyagulanyi and thereby set him free unless he is held on other charges,” Guti ruled.
Bobi Wine got emotional as the military court chief delivered his ruling, and for a moment, he remained seated in a plastic chair until he was helped out of the court.
He was supported to walk, and, appeared to be in pain.
Outside the military court, police detectives led by the director of Criminal Investigations AIGP Grace Akullo were waiting to re-arrest him.
His lawyer Medard Lubega Sseggona later informed him that the police had informed him that Bobi Wine was under arrest.
He was led to a waiting police car and driven straight to the Chief Magistrate’s court in Gulu where he was charged with treason.
