Lawyer Kiryowa Kiwanuka takes over the reigns at Express FC
He has mostly been known within legal and political circles and his appointment as Express FC chairman may surprise many that didn’t his sporting background.
City lawyer Kenneth Kiryowa Kiwanuka, a grandson of Jolly Joe Kiwanuka, the founder of Express FC is the new club chairperson.
He was appointed on Thursday by the club’s board of directors for a period of three years.
The lawyer announced his appointment through his Twitter handle when he tweeted thanking all those who worked with and for Express FC before.
“I have taken over the leadership of Express (The Red Eagles) as its chairman. I would like to thank all those that have worked hard for Express over the years and call for the support of the Express fans and the entire footballing fraternity. Let the Red Eagles fly. The sky is the limit,” Kiryowa Kiwanuka tweeted.
He takes over from Hajji Hassan Bulwadda who has been running the club since February when he took over from Youth and Children Affairs State Minister Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi.
KK as he is fondly known will also double as Chairman of the Express FC board.
He comes along with a vast experience related to sports as he was also Uganda Golf Union president since February 2014.
