Bobi Wine, Besigye clash again in Arua
The battle of the titans shifted to Arua Municipality as Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and FDC icon Dr Kizza Besigye joined the vote hunt for two rival candidates.
Besigye is in Arua to campaign for FDC candidate Bruce Mudathir Musema while Bobi Wine is campaigning for FDC-leaning Independent Kassiano Wadri.
If crowds are anything to go by, Bobi Wine’s crowd on Sunday made Besigye to appear an inferior force.
Besigye in company of FDC president Patrick Amuriat Oboi, secretary general Nandala Mafabi, Leader of Opposition in Parliament Betty Aol Acan and Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa addressed Musema’s rally at Ediofe.
Wadri on the other hand was with the self-proclaimed ghetto president, Bobi Wine and deputy FDC spokesman Paul Mwiru at Mvara.
A huge procession welcomed the musician cum politician into Arua on Sunday morning.
He rode in the same open roof car with Wadri waving to an ecstatic crowd all the way Mvara for the rally where he promised to employ the same vote protection techniques as he used in his own Kyadondo East and Bugiri.
On his part, Mwiru apologised to FDC supporters for announcing the “wrong” FDC flag bearer.
Not willing to be outdone, NRM candidate, Nusura Tiperu also held a procession through Arua streets ahead of President Yoweri Museveni’s arrival.
Before the procession, Tiperu first addressed a rally at River Oli divisional grounds where she reconciled with Sadic Angupale whom she defeated in the NRM primaries.
The NRM chairman is expected to address Tiperu’s final rally on Monday as Bobi Wine and Besigye also go for a final round of campaigning for their respective candidates.
The seat fell vacant following the murder of former area MP Ibrahim Abiriga on June 8 at Kawanda in Wakiso district.
