Asantehene makes grand entry at Mengo for Kabaka’s silver jubilee

Sounds of the Ashanti Kingdom traditional drums filled the air as the Asantehene Osei Tutu II arrived for Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s 25th Coronation Anniversary at Lubiri, Mengo.
Osei Tutu II was received on arrival by the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga and 1st deputy Katikkiro Amb. Emmanuel Ssendaula.

The Ashanti monarch who arrived in the country on Monday is the 16th Asantehene, traditional ruler of the Kingdom of Ashanti in Ghana since 26 April 1999.
By name, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is in direct succession to the founder of the Empire of Ashanti, Otumfuo Osei Tutu I.

Also in attendance is the Crown Prince of Obugabe Bwa Ankole, Prince Charles Aryeija Rwebishengye II together with the Omwigarire (Queen Mother) Kwezi Denese Barigye and the Ankole Kingdom Minister of Foreign Affairs and Patron for Engabo Z’Ankole Ellady Muyambi who is representing the Ankole Kingdom Enganzi George William Katatumba.
