Over 60 school girls receive re- usable sanitary pads

Lwengo.Pupils and staff at ST. Kizito Malongo Primary school in Kigenyi Village Malongo sub county Lwengo district were roofed with happiness this week when Infinity Network Development Foundation Uganda (INDF Uganda) a community based organization which operates in three districts of greater Masaka and that is Lwengo, Lyantode and Masaka district provided re –usable pads to over 60 pupils in upper primary.

The CBO aims at promoting improved livelihood and welfare of people in the community through improved education and health of locals.

While giving out the pads to girl children yesterday the INDF executive director Mr. Aron Isabirye urged ST. Kizito school administration to work hand in hand with parents so as to enable girl child education which is majorly interfered by a few things such as lack of sanitary pads during their menstrual periods.

“We call upon parent’s local leaders and other stake holders to extend their helping hand towards this young generation (girls) if we are to build the future “Mr. Isabirye said

Mr. Mutogole Robert the headmaster St. kizito Primary school told this newspaper that he was greatfull for the work done by INDF Uganda towards young girls and urged pupils who received pads to use them properly as directed by their senior school woman.

“When you go back home inform your parents that we have received re-usable sanitary pads from some helpers but they have told us that they work for four years each packet has four where by one pad is used for one year however they have urged us to tell you that you should buy us and our young sisters sanitary pads instead of using clothes and cotton as it has been the case”. He told pupils

Namutebi Betty 13, p.7 stressed that it’s her first time to see sanitary pads and it was her second year experiencing periods noting that she has been using cotton and woolen clothes during her menstrual periods.

According to the school deputy Ms Judith Tibaryebwa who doubles as the school senior woman thanked INDF for the helping heart and promised to teach his pupils on how to use the given pads, she continued to thank INDF on behalf of female teachers who received re-usable pads as well.
