Police takes away Nambooze’s computer, phone

Police on Thursday stormed Kiruddu hospital where Mukono municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze is hospitalized to collect her communication gadgets as ordered by Nakawa Chief magistrate, Karemani Jamson.

Police officers headed by Vincent Ssekate, the spokesman of the force’s Criminal Investigations Directorate, and the OC CID Katwe police station were putting in force a June 20 order for Nambooze’s Computer and phones to be taken for investigation.

Court order requiring Nambooze to surrender her gadgets.

Nambooze was arrested last week over computer misuse and offensive communication charges following her hard hitting eulogy of former Arua municipality Ibrahim Abiriga.

Abiriga killed on June 8 by unknown gunmen at Kirinyabigo near Kawanda in Wakiso district.

Erias Lukwago, one of Nambooze’s lawyers said her persecution has been stretched to absurd levels.

Erias Lukwago, one of Nambooze’s lawyers said her persecution has been stretched to absurd levels.

“How on earth can a reasonable person coerce someone battling for her dear life to produce the gadgets listed herein?” Lukwago said. Nambooze was due to fly out of the country last week for medical review but she was stopped as she is under arrest.
