Fenix International powers 200,000 homes with solar energy

As Uganda rapidly transitions from using fuel to solar energy, Fenix International Uganda has promised continue aiding the process with their Readypay Solar Power system.

Fenix International, a leading solar energy company has provided electricity to over 200,000 homes changing lives with their lead product, Ready pay solar power. Ready pay is an expandable, lease- to –own solar home system providing light, phone charging, TV, and radio, paid in instalments through MTN mobile money by the customer.

During their handover event, Fenix international Uganda’s Managing Director, Daniel Willette said that the steady shift of Ugandans from use of Kerosene to Readypay solar power products in their homes is a game changer.

“For us this is a great indicator of the shift in the trust of solar products, with customers now recognising the quality of what we offer and the inclusive nature of our financing,” Willette said.

He attributed the increase in Readypay customers to the affordability of their products that motivates and allows them to choose to pay in installments from as little as Shs700 a day.

“In Uganda, 84% of our customers are farmers, self-employed or own a small business in rural areas.”

Willette also announced a balanced paid off solar kit and a free TV upgrade for Christine Aken, a 35year old woman which he called a milestone in their presence in Uganda. He also handed over 10 home solar power systems to Vision Group’s Managing Director Robert Kabushenga to go towards youth empowerment.

Willette promised not to only develop Paygo solar home system for Uganda but to continue to increase the milestones of delivering clean, safe and affordable energy and financial services to over 1million people.
