Onyango, Okwir join cranes camp in Niger
Uganda Cranes defender Godfrey Walusimbi has been left out of the squad that will face Central African Republic and Niger in two friendly matches lined up this week.
Walusimbi’s club, Gor Mahia FC requested the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) to let the prolific defender to remain with them as the prepare for a crucial engagement in the Kenyan league.
Though many of the leagues across the globe ended, for Kenya its just the beginning since their league runs on a calendar year.
Walusimbi has been replaced by on-form SC Villa midfielder Allan Kyambadde.
Meanwhile, Uganda cranes captain Denis Onyango and Tanzania based striker Emmanuel Okwi have joined the camp in Niger.
The remaining players; Moses Opondo, Edrisa Lubega, Yunus Ssentamu and Bevis Mugabi are expected to join the team today in Niger capital Niamey.
Though Proline fc defender Mujuzi Mustafa had been summoned to fill the void of Nicolas Wadada, he was dropped after Wadada appeared fit and made the cut.
Uganda will be facing Central African Republic on Wednesday its opening game of the camp, Central African Republic settled for a 3-all draw with Niger in its opening game on Sunday.
This is one of the preparations of the Uganda cranes ahead of 2019 African cup of nations qualifier games to be played in September and October against Lesotho and Tanzania respectively.
