Here’s Amama Mbabazi’s VIP son-in-law
On May 19, John Patrick Amama Mbabazi, Uganda’s former Prime Minister will give away his niece Bridget Birungi Rwakairu to Andile Ramaphosa at a cultural ceremony at Kololo in Kampala.
Twelve members of the Ramaphosa family jet into the country on Friday, May 18 for the ceremony that is going to connect two distant cultures; the Bakiga of Uganda, and the Zulu of South Africa.
But who is Andile Ramaphosa?
Born in 1982 to Cyril Matemela Ramaphosa and Tshepo Motsepe, Andile Ramaphosa is the eldest son of South Africa’s first family.
He is the Managing Director of Blue Crane Capital, a South African based debt recovery and mortgage brokering company.
Andile studied his undergraduate at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, where he completed a Business Science in Finance and Statistics (B.Bus.Sc).
He then went on to work in asset management working for Coronation Asset Management as a Senior Analyst. After working for Coronation for two years, he then went on to complete his first Masters in Economics (MA) in Shanghai China at Fudan University.
He thereafter joined Standard Bank (Stanbic) in China as part of the ICBC relationship team, where Andile then gained a lot of experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), project financing and as well as China-Africa business opportunities.
Whilst in China, Andile then went on to complete his second Masters Science in Finance (MSc.Fin) through a joint programme offered by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and New York University (Stern Business School).
During his period in China, Andile met Bridget and subsequently returned to South Africa where he then joined Macquarie Bank as their head of Africa Strategy in the executive team in South Africa.
