Rally run two cancelled in Masaka as Mangat leads day one
The 2018 Uganda National Rally championship leader Jas Mangat is leading after day one of the Southern Motor Club rally.
The first section held in Kako with a super special stage of 2.8km saw the three times Uganda National rally champion Jas Mangat post the fastest time of 3minutes and ten seconds, six seconds ahead of second placed Ronald Ssebuguzi.
For safety reason, the rally couldn’t proceed after the crew of Isaac Ssozi and Lawrence Mwambazi rolled off hence ending day one of the rally prematurely.
Drivers had to do two runs each of 2.8km but ended up doing just one.
The rally will proceed to areas of Kyotera district and Lwengo on Sunday with now five sections left to complete the rally.
However, the likes of Ponsiano Lwakataka whom some drivers petitioned to have failed some rules of the rally and Omar Mayanja who got a mechanical problem on day one of the rally are likely not to continue with the rally.
Jas Mangat is leading the national rally championship with 200 points after he won the first two rounds of the national rally championship.
Over thirty five drivers are taking part in Masaka rally with Jas Mangat, Ronald Ssebuguzi, Christakis Fitidis and Duncan Mubiru among the favourites to win this rally.
