Uganda gets first victory againt S.Sudan in CECAFA U-17

Uganda national Under-17 team the Cubs recorded a 3-0 in the ongoing CECAFA tournament at Gitega, Burundi.

Goals from Andrew Kawooya, a player with proline junior team was the first to score, before  Vipers Junior Academy player Moses Bakabulindi scored two more goals to give Uganda a  secure 3-0 win for the day.

The win is Uganda’s first  after settling for a 1-all draw with Tanzania in their group B opener on Sunday.

Uganda advances in the Semi-finals after there was a change in the fixture following disqualification of some teams for bringing in the game some over aged players. The National team coach, Peter Onen earlier made a change from the team that drew against Tanzania on Sunday, put in Ivan Asaba instead of player Idd Abdulwahid.

The group has only three teams after Zanzibar was banned from the tournament on Monday this week by the tournament organizers who had a meeting. Zanzibar found guilty of registering overage players in the tournament and was in addition to ban ordered to pay $10000.

Uganda is the Defending champions of the tournament that was last played in 2009, in Sudan. The games are being played as a development tournament to the CAF U-17 tournament to be held later in August in Dar es Salam.
