Uganda second Commonwealth Games contingent setting off today.
A contingent of sixteen people including athletes and officials will leave today afternoon aboard Emirates airline for Common wealth games in Australia.
Athletes including 2014 common wealth games bronze medalist Winnie Nanyondo, 10000m competitor Joshua Cheptegei are on the contingent.
Cheptegei said yesterday that after winning world athletics championship silver medal last year in London eyes are on him in common wealth especially as far as Uganda medal hope expectations are and he has a belief of coming back with a medal.
“Its a big challenge holding hope of over 30 million people but, I promise I will try to leave up to the expectations,” said the 10000m world junior champion.
Nalis Bijingo one of the athletics coaches last week revealed that Cheptegei’s fitness was below compared to that of other world class athletes whom he is going to compete with.
