Vipers keep title hopes alive


A win against URA FC is all that Vipers SC needed to keep their title hopes in sight.
The Kitende based club beat URA 1-0 at Namboole stadium in the Azam Uganda Premier League.
Elisa Ssekisambu scored from a spot kick for the visitors in the 40th minute of the game after a foul by URA FC captain Allan Munaba in a forbidden area on Milton Kalisa.

Vipers are now 2nd on the table with 39 points from 20 games; four points behind table leaders SC Villa.

Elsewhere, Steven Bogere’s army side UPDF FC settled for a goalless draw against Onduparaka FC in a match played at Bombo.

In Luzira, Prisons side Maroons lost 2-1 to visiting Kirinya Jinja SS FC. The visitors came from a goal down with Musa Esenu scoring a brace. Allan Anguyo had put the home side in the lead.

In Masaka, table leaders SC Villa beat relegation battlers Masavu FC 1-0 through a penalty kick scored by Martin Kiiza in first half of the game for the Joogos to stretch their unbeaten run at home in Masaka Recreation Ground.
