Three top drivers opt out of Fort Portal rally

Three top rally drivers in Jas Mangat, the current national rally championship leader, Arthur Blick the 2015 National rally champion and Andrew Desh Kananura have pulled out of this weekend’s Fort Portal rally for varying reasons.

Desh Kananura relied on unforeseen circumstances that forced him out of the rally, Mangat has had health complications for sometime despite putting in entry. He had anticipated to have recovered from the sickness in time for the rally which hasn’t happened. While Arthur Blick has up to the last minute been waiting for some spare parts of his car that have failed to be in Kampala on time to be fixed for him to take part in the fourth round of the national rally championship.

There pulling out means that only 38 drivers will compete in a 244km designed route for two days starting Saturday with two stages.

The withdrawal of Mangat leaves a chance to NRC defending champion Christakis Fitidis to close the gap of 60 points between him and Mangat or even score more points to go on top of the table.
Fitidis hasn’t failed to cross finish line in any rally he has competed in this year.
